Why wooden clocks?
A wooden wall clock is both useful and decorative. Handcrafted designs bring warmth and texture that plastic and metal clocks rarely match, and they suit traditional and modern interiors alike.
Choosing the right size
- Above a sofa or console: about a third to half of the furniture width.
- On an empty feature wall: a larger statement clock.
- In a bedroom or study: medium size, so it does not dominate.
Style and finish
- Match the wood tone to your furniture, or contrast dark wood on a light wall.
- Carved or textured designs work as a focal point.
- Clear numerals help elders read the time easily.
Silent or ticking?
Quartz clocks with a sweep (continuous) movement are almost silent, which is ideal for bedrooms and study rooms. Ticking movements are fine in living rooms.
Placement as per Vastu
Vastu traditionally suggests hanging clocks on the north or east wall and avoiding the south wall and the space directly above the main door. Keep clocks working and set to the right time.
Clock styles for different rooms
| Room | Style |
|---|---|
| Living room | Large, carved or textured statement clock |
| Bedroom | Medium, silent sweep movement, calm tones |
| Study / home office | Clear numerals, medium size |
| Kids' room | Playful shapes, placed out of reach |
| Entrance / foyer | Compact clock above a console |
Care tips
- Dust the frame with a soft dry cloth; never spray cleaner directly on wood.
